Este mecanismo, comunitario y voluntario, implica la adopci\u00f3n de criterios avanzados de sostenibilidad. Las compa\u00f1\u00edas que participan en esta iniciativa asumen un compromiso de mejora continua, verificado mediante auditor\u00edas independientes. Desde la adhesi\u00f3n a este sistema de gesti\u00f3n ambiental, la planta de Toral ha reforzado, adem\u00e1s, su objetivo de trasparencia, con la publicaci\u00f3n anual de un documento, la Declaraci\u00f3n Ambiental, que incluye los aspectos y actividades m\u00e1s relevantes en el \u00e1mbito del medio ambiente y la actividad de fabricaci\u00f3n de cl\u00ednker. Dicho informe est\u00e1 a disposici\u00f3n de los grupos de inter\u00e9s. Cementos Cosmos se adhiri\u00f3 al sistema EMAS en el a\u00f1o 2018 junto a una treintena de empresas en Castilla y Le\u00f3n. Anualmente la f\u00e1brica establece objetivos ambientales y demuestra el compromiso con su consecuci\u00f3n para mantener esta certificaci\u00f3n. En la actualidad, solo 18 empresas de Castilla y Le\u00f3n cuentan con este sistema de gesti\u00f3n, de las cuales s\u00f3lo tres se ubican en la provincia de Le\u00f3n. La f\u00e1brica de Cementos Cosmos es la \u00fanica empresa del Bierzo con este sistema voluntario de gesti\u00f3n ambiental. Como empresa adherida al registro EMAS, la cementera se compromete voluntariamente a evaluar y reducir su impacto medioambiental.
